I’ve built out some tools to modify the game data. Allowing me to build out content of the game faster.

Abandon Run

Abandoning a run will make all the cards disappear off of screen.

Cards are now click and drag

You can now click and drag cards into place. Making it a lot easier to arrange your team for battle. Cards move smoothly from place to place instead of instantly moving.

Next Week

Keep finishing things like round configs and content for the game. I’m approach the end of pre production and entering the phase of creating all the content for the game. Even with the end in sight I will still have to do more development finalize certain aspects of the game, especially boss fights.

Lessons Learned

It would have been a lot easier if I had just written out everything I wanted in the game. Then planned out how those things would interact with eachother as systems. With that it would have been easier to structure all the data. Which would have led me to start out with a good data editing layer.

I believe making a systems diagram would have saved me a ton of time. Which means for my future systems I will start out with a simple interface and program towards that instead.

What this means for my future games is that should be able to make them faster than before by appropriately aligning my efforts towards a bigger picture.
